Get your kids water wise this summer:
Free water safety talk for kids at local JUMP! Swim School
JUMP! Swim School Rowville will be offering a free water safety talk for kids on Saturday February 29.
Suitable for parents and children up to 10 years old, the talks provide invaluable tips and advice for kids on safety around and in the water this summer and beyond.
Jess Priest from JUMP! Swim School Rowville said it was never too early for kids to start learning water safety basics.
“Both parents and children need to know the core aspects of water safety – they are simple pieces of knowledge and techniques but they will make all the difference if your child every gets themselves into a tricky situation in water,” said Jess.
Jess’ top three tips for water safety are:
- Always supervise and teach young children to not enter any body of water without an adult.
- No one is too young to learn breath control and how to turn and get themselves to the edge of a pool.
- Don’t use goggles until children are strong swimmers – if they fall in the pool, young children are often more concerned about the water in their eyes than getting themselves into a safe position.
The free talk will be part of an open day running at JUMP! Swim School Rowville at 2/895a Wellington Road Rowville on Saturday February 29 from 12 noon until 3pm. The talk will take place at 1.30pm and other activities will include a jumping castle, coffee van, face painting, and waterslide.
JUMP! offers lessons for children from 3 months up and welcomes all local children and parents on the day.
A special free membership offer will also be available at the Open Day valued at $40 along with two free classes when you sign up for 12 classes.
